Create skills for your AI chatbot
Teach your AI chatbot to set calendar events, send emails, retrieve spreadsheet data, log user concerns, and more with ChatAgent skills and skill sets.
What are skills and skill sets?
Skills are actions your AI chatbot can do outside its chat window. Actions such as schedule events in Google Calendar, sending emails, adding data into Google Sheets, etc.
Skill sets on the other hand are multiple skills pieced together that transform into a workflow. Taking from the 2 skills above, a skill set can schedule events in Google Calendar and then notify the user that their event is confirmed and then log the event and user data in Google Sheets.
How to add skills to your AI chatbot
- Go to Skills under Agent Settings in your sidebar.
- Click Add Skill Set.
- Select Build Your Own Skill Set.
- Write a name for your skill or skill set in the Skill Set Name field.
- Click + Add Skill
- Select an App and Action to use. In this example, let's go with the Google Sheets app and Read Data action.
- Fill in the required fields:
- Skill Name – The name of your skill.
- When to Trigger – Describe when the skill should run.
Examples:- “Trigger this when the user wants to know the status of their order.”
- “Trigger this when the user asks if a product is in stock.”
- “Trigger this when the user asks for the service fee of a specific package.”
- “Trigger this when the user asks for the booking availability of a function room.”
- Data Collection from Chat – Add the parameters you want the chatbot to collect (e.g., name, email, booking ID). The chatbot will ask for anything missing in the conversation.
- Connect Google Sheets.– Sign in your Google account.
- Configure Google Sheets – Choose the spreadsheet your skill will read.
- Click Close.
- Click Save Skill Set.
Now that you're done creating your chatbot's skill, it's time to see if it works.
Test your AI chatbot's new skill in Playground
To see if it's working properly, go to Playground and simulate a conversation where you'll activate your AI chatbot's When to trigger response.
In this case, ask information that's in the spreadsheet you selected earlier and see if the data matches.
How to create a skill set for your AI chatbot
Because skill sets are just multiple skills in one workflow, you can create a skill set by repeating #5 (Click + Add Skill) before saving your skill set.
In the example earlier, you can add an email skill below the Google Sheets skill to send users email after informing them of the spreadsheet's contents.
You're all set!
