How to delete a chatbot

(Updated on )

Permanently delete a chatbot -- including its prompts, chat history, and sensitive data in just a few steps.

Tip #1: Consider creating a backup before proceeding.
Tip #2: Remove the chatbot's code from your website or share link from online platforms to avoid complications.

Save your important settings first

If you plan to rebuild a similar AI chatbot later on, make sure to save the following:

  • Text prompts
  • Suggested questions
  • AI model settings (Chosen AI model + temperature settings)
  • Interface settings
  • Custom Skill Sets

How to delete a chatbot

  1. From your chatbot dashboard, click General under Agent Settings in your sidebar.
  2. Scroll to the Delete Chatbot section.
  3. Click Delete.
  4. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

What happens after deletion

  • All settings, chat history, and AI training tied to the chatbot will be permanently erased (even from our servers).
The only remaining data from the chatbot will be its knowledge base. To delete it, proceed to the next section.
  • Standalone links will open to a chatbot displaying a 404 error.
  • Embedded chatbot widgets in websites will return a 404 error.

Delete a chatbot's associated Knowledge Base

Knowledge bases can be shared between AI chatbots. To avoid creating errors for other chatbots, these will not be erased when a chatbot is deleted.

To delete a knowledge base:

  1. Go to the Knowledge Library at the leftmost sidebar.
  2. Select the Knowledge Base.
  3. Click Delete Knowledge Base in the top-right corner.
