Choose an AI model for your chatbot
Strike a balance between speed and complexity by choosing your chatbot's AI model.
How to switch between AI models
- Go to Agent Settings > General > Model Settings.
- In Model, select your AI model.
- In Temperature, use the slider to balance the consistency and creativity of your AI's responses.
- Optional: Edit your AI's role (this is the prompt you added when first creating the chatbot).
- Toggle Use General Knowledge to allow/disallow the AI to use it's own LLM general knowledge to respond to users.
How to choose the right AI model
Picking an AI model is similar to selecting a temperature for your AI. But in this case, one side is complexity and quality, while the other is speed.
GPT-4o
The most advanced model, giving the smartest and most natural responses. It’s the best choice when you want the most accurate answers or need the chatbot to handle complex questions smoothly.
GPT-4o Mini
Faster than GPT-4o but still more capable than GPT-3.5 Turbo and Gemini Flash, it strikes a good balance between speed and quality. It’s a solid pick for everyday conversations that don’t require deep reasoning.
GPT-3.5 Turbo
Best for handling straightforward questions and tasks. While it’s not as smart as the GPT-4o models, it’s consistent and performs well for basic chatbot interactions.
Gemini 2.0 Flash
The fastest model in this list, ideal when quick replies are more important than detailed ones. It’s great for simple tasks, but not as strong as the GPT models for more thoughtful or complex answers.
How Temperature works
Low Temperature (e.g. 0.2)
The AI stays focused and factual. It chooses the most likely response and avoids unnecessary creativity.
Useful for: customer support, knowledge bases, and technical assistance.
Medium Temperature (e.g. 0.5)
The AI is slightly more flexible, giving responses that are still grounded but with a touch of personality.
Useful for: general chatbots, lead capture, and blended customer interaction.
High Temperature (e.g. 0.8–1.0)
The AI becomes more conversational, sometimes surprising, and even a bit playful.
Useful for: branding bots, creative prompts, or engaging visitors in a fun way.
